Reason for the Fund

In the Old Testament, Joseph was a man of vision. One vision God gave him was to prepare for the future (Genesis 41:25-36). The land of Egypt was about to experience a famine and Joseph instructed the king to prepare for it by storing up resources against that day. While North Brevard County is already experiencing some hard times, we anticipate harder times are still to come. The ending of the Space Shuttle Program will put extra economic pressure on the people of our area.

History

In 2006 – 2007, God gave some of the Christian pastors of North Brevard who met together regularly to pray for the region and to jointly seek God’s will for the area vision. The vision included an urgency to begin gathering resources to help people in their time of need just as Joseph did. This is the purpose for the creation of the Joseph Fund of North Brevard. As a result of that vision a separate committee of lay volunteers was formed to implement the pastor’s vision. Out of that, the Joseph Fund of North Brevard was born.

Target Audience The Fund is designed to reach the previously unreached, middle-income Brevard resident who may never have needed financial assistance before. Space Center workers who have been laid off from their positions who need temporary help to see them through the difficult weeks of searching for replacement work.
